Sunset Dunes North offers a scenic journey through the northern section of San Francisco’s newest coastal park. Stretching along the former Upper Great Highway, this video captures the changing landscape where city streets, restored sand dunes, and the Pacific Ocean come together along the western edge of San Francisco.
The route provides a closer look at the park’s open pathways, newly developing dune habitat, coastal vegetation, and expansive ocean views. It also highlights the unique character of the Outer Sunset, where residential neighborhoods sit only steps away from one of California’s most dramatic shorelines.
From sweeping views of the coast to the smaller details of the evolving landscape, Sunset Dunes North documents a major transformation of San Francisco’s waterfront. What was once primarily a roadway is becoming a public space for walking, biking, recreation, and enjoying the natural beauty of the Pacific coast.
